⇒ The Godavari is the largest Peninsular river. It rises from the slopes of western Ghats in the Nasik district of Maharashtra.
⇒ It drain into Bay of Bengal. It drainage basin is also largest among the peninsula rivers.
⇒ The Godavari is joined by a number of tributaries such as the Purna, the Wardha, the Penganga,the Manjra, the Wainganga and the Pranhita.
⇒ The area covered by the tributaries is very large in some area so it is also known as the 'Dakshin Ganga'.
⇒ The length of the basin is about 1500 km.
