They posses a chitinous exoskeleton that must be shed during growth.The paired appendages (e.g., legs, antennae) are jointed.The segmented bodies are arranged into regions, called tagmata (e.g., head, thorax, abdomen).They have bilateral symmetry.

Features of Arthopods--
1) They are triploblastic, bilaterally symmetrical and segmented animals.
2) Body consists of impermeable exoskeleton,which is tough, composed of structural polysaccahride called chitin.
3)Body cavity is filled with blood i.e. haemcoelic , it has open circulatory system.
4) Respiration is through book lungs.
5) Excretion is through Malpighian tubules and green glands
