The ‘entangled mass’ of thread like structures that are present in the ‘nucleus’ is called the chromatin network.

The chromatin network contains the nucleic matter of the cell. The DNA makes up the entire chromatin network. This chromatin network condenses to form the chromosome during the cell cycle.

The cellular DNA which is very long is condensed and held together to form the chromatin by means of specialised proteins called the histones. The complex containing the histone proteins and the DNA is termed as nucleosome.
