No system of government is perfect. Democracy tends to perform worse than many others, but under certain circumstances, it can work well. Sweden and Iceland are good examples where it works well.

One major problem with democracy is that the majority can force its will on a minority. (Tyranny of the majority.) So you will find that almost a quarter of South African White people have fled the land of their birth since the advent of Black rule there. New racist laws have been applied, similar to affirmative action, but far more insidious, to discriminate against Whites who still live there. Many white people don’t bother voting because it is a pointless exercise.
