Reasons for providing free and compulsory education in India :-
1) To brings literacy in rural areas.
2) To help the children of economically weaker section of society to access to education.
3) To bring literacy for girl child , who otherwise are ignored.
4) Education is one of the main criteria for measuring development. So, to develop the country and individual.
5) To help students get better paid jobs as educated persons are well employed.

Free Elementary education in India is encouraged due to various reasons such as:
- The young generation is holding the reins of future India.
- The strong foundation of future India could be laid down only with the help of education.
- Educated India means an aware India.
- Right to education is a fundamental right then why not to educate all for a brighter future.
- Free education is provided irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
