Answer:

The longer humanity exits the more the elements of a comfortable life for the average person seem to be the goals. To this end life has become more and more comfortable as our wishes have become reality through technology. It stands to reason that what is ‘modern’ is what pushes humanity more toward these goals. So what serves the most people? Providing a good life in which society is orderly and that means predictably and agreeably just for most people is important. Just means inclusiveness, there is no reason to exclude anyone from this happiness. Equality means many things to people as we are by nature hierarchical. But it seems to mean not real equality as much as no one going without the essentials and certainly not at obscene levels of spending (such as we have all over the world - thousands for a purse or ride in a jet) and obscene levels of poverty.
