Environmental impact of the amazon rainforest
Answers
The Amazon Rainforest is a tropical rainforest which hosts an abundance of flora and fauna. Unfortunately, we humans are exploiting it for our selfish needs. The following are a few methods in which we are harming the Amazon Rainforest.
1) Deforestation (mainly for papers) is happening on a large-scale basis. Trees are cut down and large areas are cleared, leaving flat and unfertile land. Soil is now exposed and the world-known phenomenon of soil erosion increases.
2) Cattle Ranching takes up a lot of land as farmers need land for their cows. The cows also eat the remaining grass on the floor which also exposes the soil to natural elements (e.g. wind and rain).
3) Slash and Burn is a process mainly practiced by tribes inhabiting the Amazon Rainforest. Although this happens on a small-scale basis, the fires caused increase CO2 emissions and some fires may get out of hand and become very large fires (like was the case the previous summer).
