1.The wild life (Protection) Act, 1972:- This Act Provides for rational and modernwildlife management.

2.The water (Prevention and Control) Act, 1974(Amended in 1978 and 1988)Since water is a state subject, the Act was initially applicable to those stateswhich has passed the enabling legislations under Article 252 authorising the parliament toenact on a state subject. Subsequent all other states have adopted the Act.

3.Water (Prevention and Pollution) cess Act,1977 (Amended in 1991):-This Act provides for levy and collection of cess, on water consumed by pensions carrying on certain industries.

4.Forest Conservation,1980:-This is a central Act. According to it, no state Government or any other authority can de-reserve a reserve forest, use any forest land for non- forest purposes.It is very difficult to obtain the approve of the central Government and where suchapproval is given a condition of compensatory afforestation of non-forest land at the costof the project proponent is insisted upon.

5.The Air(Prevention and Control) of Pollution Act, 1981 (Amended in 1987)The objective of the Air Act is to present, control and reduce air pollution including noise pollution and to extension Boards at the state.
