There are two enzymes in our saliva. An enzyme called Amylase, which breaks down carbohydrates into simple sugar. This is why when you chew bread, it tastes sweet.

There is also Lingual Lipase. Why lingual? Because Lingual means, related to the Tongue. The lingual lipase breaks down Fats.
