Well, to be honest, there is no accurate epilogue. It depends on your imagination completely.
It can be that after seeing the watchman with no eyes, ears,nose, eyebrows, Mr. Oliver dies or became like them. It can also be that he fainted and then the authorities found him somehow. We cannot say that it was his dream because we are told that he wan not an imaginative person, in the beginning of the story. It could also be that he managed to escaped. Therefore, it totally depends on your thought process.
