In between these two tissues, there is a thin basement membrane. Secretions from both the epithelial tissue and the connective tissue make up the basement membrane.

Secretions from the epithelial tissue makes up the basal lamina ( glycoprotein s and mucopolysaccharides in the form of hyaluronic acid)

And Connective tissue's secretions make up the Fibrous lamina ( collagen fibres ).
