The epithelial tissue is the tissue that grows upon another tissue and their individual cells obtain nutrients over the connective tissue.

The epithelial tissue originated from the three premordial germ layers :-

(i) Ectodermal or the epidermis i.e stratified squamous epithelium.

(ii) Mesodermal or the mesothelium, endothelium i.e simple squamous epithelium.

(iii) Ectodermal or the Gastro-intestinal tract i.e simple columnar epithelium.
