EQ: Why did some people develop agriculture and domestication of animals? What were the effects of these new ways of life?

Students will define the following vocabulary words use the text or other sources. Students will view a video on "Early agriculture" and discuss reasons for early human settlements. Students will view a video on "Catalyohuk" and compare and contrast earlier human structures from the Neolithic Era to present day structures.

Answer the question "What was the Agricultural Revolution? How did farming lead to new types of economic activities? List and explain in your own words at least 3 new activities that Neolithic people could do because of the surplus of food.

By switching to farming, humans could for the first time in history be sure of what and when they would eat. While nomadic cultures had to rely on chance and were therefore much more vulnerable to natural forces, agrarian cultures could produce and store food for later, making them less vulnerable.
