The complete statement is :

'equal volumes of all gases, at the same temperature and pressure, have the same number of molecules.'

This is known as the Avogadro's law and is studied usually with other laws such as :

  • Boyle's law : gives pressure and volume relation
  • Charles's law : gives volume and temperature relationship
  • Gay-Lussac's law : gives temperature and pressure relationship

The Avogadro's law means that the volume and number of molecules ( no of moles) of a given ideal gas are directly proportional to each other. (provided other factors like temperature and pressure remain constant)

We can also write it as

V∝N

where

V=volume of gas

N=no of moles

Hope this helps.
