Say, we have taken 30g of methane and 30g of hydrogen, (equal weights)
molecular weight of Methane (C2H6) is 30g/mol
and for Hydrogen is 1g/mol
let's get started!
as, we have taken, 30g of methane, so,
mole of methane is = 30 (g) /30 (g/mol)
methane mole is = 1mol
I believe it is hydrogen gas not hydrogen atom so,
similarly, for Hydrogen gas,
molecular weight of hydrogen is = 2g/mol
mol of hydrogen for 30g is,
30/2 = 15moles
mole fraction of methane is = no. of moles of methane/ (no. of moles of methane + no. of moles of hydrogen)
mole fraction of methane = 1/(1+15)
mole fraction of methane= 0.0625
