x-axis and 1 cm to represent 1 unit on the y-axis, draw the graph of the linear function y

= 2 1

x + 3 for the values of x from –3 to 3. (only consider three point of x as –3, 0 & 3 to

find value of y).

ii) The points (–2, a) and (b, 3) lie on the graph in (i). Find the values of a and of b.

Step-by-step explanation:

(i)Since (a,b) and (b,0) lie on the line y=8x+3 , they must satisfy this equtaion .

→b=8a+3

→0=8b+3

Solving we get b=

8

−3

and a=

64

−27

(ii)Since (2,0) doesn't satisy y=8x+3 ,therefore it is not its solution .
