\frac{x^2}{a^2} - \frac{y^2}{b^2} = 1

The equation of a hyperbola with focii on x-axis and centre on (0,0) is given by \frac{x^2}{a^2} - \frac{y^2}{b^2} = 1. Where, (c,0) and (-c,0) are the position of the focii on x-axis and (±a,0) are the vertices and (±b,0) are the covertices of the hyperbola.

And c² = a² + b².

Length of transverse axis =2a

Length of conjugate axis = 2b

Distance between two foci = 2c

Equation of asymptotes: y = ±\frac{b}{a} x
