Hi friend,
The given equation is a linear equation in 2 variables.For every value of x, there is a corresponding value of y, so this equation has infinitely many solutions.
Hope this helps. . . Cheers. .

The given equation has infinitely many solutions.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given with the following equation ;  x - 4y=5

As we can see that there are two variables in the equation; x and y, which means whatever value we put in y we keeps on getting corresponding values of x, that is;

Modifying the equation we get;

                      x = 4y+5

Now, if we put y = 1, we get;  x = 4(1) + 5 = 9

If we put y = 2, we get;  x = 4(2) + 5 = 13

If we put y = 3, we get;  x = 4(3) + 5 = 17   and so on.....

SO, this shows that this equation has infinitely many solutions.
