First of all I want to tell you that Equivalent weight is the ratio of molecular weight of any substance to it's acidity or basicity or we can say simply X-Factor….

We are hereto discuss about Ethanoic Acid (CH3COOH) most commonly called Vinegar or Acetic Acid.

So,we should know the basicity of this acid.

Basicity of Acetic Acid is “1”…

Therefore, it's Equivalent weight(E) will be (Molecular weight÷1).

E=60÷1 because molecular weight of Acetic acid is 60.

Therefore, finally E=60..

That means Equivalent weight of Acetic Acid is 60…..!!!!!

Equivalent mass of an acid = weight of acid ÷ number of replaceable H+ ions
Ch3cooh has one replaceable H+ ion
So it's equivalent mass = 60÷1
= 60 g
Hope it helps!
