In series combination

Req = R1 + R2 + R3.............+ Rn

The Req is always greater than the individual resistance. Req goes increasing by addition of every resistance.

In parallel combination

1 / Req = 1/ R1 + 1/ R2 + 1/ R3.............+ 1/ Rn

The Req is always lesser than the individual resistance. Req goes deccreasing by addition of every resistance.
