Equivalent weight (n factor) depends on reaction and is different for different reactions like if h2po3 reacts with 1 mole of NaOH then its equivalent weight will be molecular mass/1 (n factor=1) but if it reacts with 2 moles of NaOH then its equivalent weight will be molecular mass/2 (n factor=2)

  • For an acid base reaction n factor is the no. of H ions or OH- ions replaced by one mole of that acid or base.
