Let P km be the total journey

So according to the question

P × ( 1-3/5) =84

P × 2/5 = 84

P =84 × 5 /2 = 210

So total journey = 210 km

So Eric's average speed for the whole journey

= Total distance / Total time

= 210/( 2 + 1) km/h

= 70 km/h
