Step-by-step explanation:

Given  Practice Assessment - Questions Betty paints twice as fast as Dan Working together, Dan and Betty can paint 2.400 square feet  in 4 hours. Another employee Sue joined their painting team. Working together Dan,Betty and Sue can paint 3600 sq ft in 3 hours. If Sue works alone how many sq ft can she paint in 4 hours and 27 minutes?

  • According to question
  • In 4 hours Dan and Betty can paint 2400 sq ft
  • Therefore in 1 hour it will be 2400 / 4 = 600 sq ft
  • Now Betty can paint twice as much as Dan
  • d + 2 d = 600
  • or 3 d = 600
  • or d = 200
  • so Dan in 1 hour can paint 200 sq ft
  • But Betty can do twice so it will be 400 sq ft per hour
  • Now along with both Sue joins and three of them paint 3600 sq ft in 3 hours.
  • We know that in 1 hour Dan and Betty will paint 600 sq ft
  • So in 3 hours they will do 600 x 3 = 1800 sq ft.
  • Therefore in 1 hour Sue will paint 1800 / 3 = 600 sq ft
  • Now we need to find how much Sue can paint in 4 hours 27 minutes
  • So 27 min will be 27 / 60 and 4 + 27 / 60 = 267 / 60
  • In 1 hour Sue will paint 600 sq ft
  • Therefore in 267 / 60 hour she will be able to paint 267 / 60 x 600
  •            = 2670 sq ft
