I don't think that it is a bad way to spend you'r money because you get to learn a lot about medical backgrounds. And if you'r not really into medical thing's then yeah it would be a waste of money because then you are buying stuff that really dose not interest you and wasting you'r money that you could spend on things that you really like to do.  But just because something is expensive dose not mean that it is not a good way to spend you'r money.
