It is unfortunate that the world has not acceded to the efforts of the United Nations and its predecessor, the League of Nations, in transforming this planet into a peaceful abode for humanity. Death and destruction in Hiroshima, Nagasaki and in Vietnam has not taught us the value of peace. Today, many nations are armed to the teeth, some with weapons of mass destruction, an euphemism for ammunition like nuclear weapons, in spite of tall leaders of men who have preached peace and non-violence, like Gandhi and Mandela.Unless the nations of this world sit down and decide of ways to destroy weapons of all kinds that have been stockpiled over the years, humanity will be staring at a future of doom and destruction that'll put the survival of man at great risk.
