Brian Howarth wrote his eleven "Mysterious Adventures" in 1981-83, originally as text-only games. Later versions had line-drawing graphics. These were very popular in the UK, but very hard to find nowadays. Their simple two-word-parser and the short room descriptions make them a very old part of the adventure-genre-history.
