                                   Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi was the only person who helped India to get freedom from the British rules. He was born in Porbandar state in 1869. His father was the state's Dewan. The turn of his life began when he went to Africa. There Gandhiji started his public activities. He deeply saw that his countrymen had been humiliated by the white rulers of that country. Then he showed a new struggle. Their movement was largely successful. He was a political leader. People often called them 'Mahatma'. In 1948, this great person of India died.
