The second Nupi Lan ( Nupi means woman ; Lan means war) was happened on 1939 . Every year it is honoured at Manipur for the brave women who fought for their right.

The Manipuri women agitated against the government. The deep rooted cause of the movement was directly related to the Irregularities in the administration of the state by the British.

The story was that in 1939 , there was excessive rain in the last week of July and First week of August. Sad but true, In November hailstorm break out the whole state. As a result, the price of paddy rose from 1 rupee 4 annas to 2 rupees.

And the British government started exporting of paddy for business. So the women justice rise and they start taking actions about it. As a result exportation of rice was banned in 13 December 1939. This incident was called The SECOND NUPI LAN.
