The grass is always greener on the other side. However, open learning and regular college both have their advantages and disadvantages in terms of convenience, rules and regulations, flexibility, access to study material and teachers and social circle.

A regular college goer might not find it very convenient going to college everyday, during rainy, hot or extremely cold months. An open learning student has the advantage of not attending classes daily. However, the learner might have to sit through extended sessions during weekends, unlike the well-distributed academic sessions for a normal college student.

Additionally, the normal college student has to adhere to rules and regulations on a daily basis. Open learning institutions hardly have any students coming into the campus. Hence, the students do not have any code of conduct to follow each day.

When it comes to flexibility, learners enrolled with open learning institutions are free to work full time during their course of study. Regular colleges however, demand about 70 % attendance, making it difficult for students to pick up a job side by side.

Open school learners often find it challenging to make time for studies on a daily basis. Their focus is more on their work, unlike students in a regular college, whose main purpose (at that stage of life) is to focus on their studies and build a career. The grades usually show a big difference between the two types of learners.

Students in regular colleges are extremely lucky to be able to approach their teachers and get their doubts cleared. Alternately, they can also visit the college library for the same. Open institution learners suffer heavily on that front. They do not have that sort of access to teachers, nor do they have an institutional library that is close to them for ready access.

Further, while college goers develop a social circle and forge life long friendships in college, students in an open learning institution miss out on that opportunity. They are completely on their own and do not have any peers to reach out to for help, support or even general conversation.

Each individual's circumstances are different. Hence, drawing a comparison between regular colleges students and learners in an open learning institution is unfair. However, where there is a will, there is a way and all individuals, irrespective of the hardships, can reach academic heights through determination and hard work.

Essay on Online learning Vs Traditional learning.

Every coin has two sides. Pros and cons are must in any field or ideology. Just the factors vary. It depends on how people utilize the opportunity. How much a person gets to cope up with a new thing. Disciplinary skills, flexibility, career advancement, learning environment, cost variation, and the list goes on if we keep on comparing between online education and traditional education.

Taking on this topic, the first talk we need to have is about the environment. The environment in which we try to grasp things into our minds, impacts a lot. A class which contains around 60 students is much different from the environment where one or two sits down to learn something. Focus matters, not the mugging up!

Traditional education helps the students in growing their self-disciplinary skills. A positive attitude comes with good organization skills, discipline and punctuality. One holds a grip on these things when they face the real-time environment which  isn’t as cozy as his/her room. It brings out the frog from the well and makes it face the competitive world.

Coming to online education it has more pros. A person can completely focus on his interests and develop himself in the field he wants to see himself being crowned. A class in which one doesn’t have any interest to sit in, glues on the seat itself when it comes to traditional classes. In such times, online education really becomes a savior. Lots of information, one place, unshakable concentration and boom! One can become what he/she wants to be.

Next important factor is confidence. A student who goes for traditional education faces a massive amount of people around, and a group of prodigy lecturers. Presenting his ideas and thoughts among them takes a lot of courage. He may stammer first, but with time, he improves his confidence levels to the maximum point. And he will be the one who marks his feet on the success ladder, incredibly. Gaining such confidence by online education is the toughest task.

Commuting won’t even come into the action when it comes to online education. One can learn things in a peaceful, free environment whenever he thinks that he can concentrate. Through this, they can learn schedule management. And moreover, they can learn a bit more than they usually do, through online education. Interacting with lecturers won’t be a problem in an online education system. Once students get habituated to this type of learning, their ability of concentrating over knowledge based things becomes high.

Deviations happen mostly. Students need to get motivated from time to time, to keep them in the track of concentrating on their career ladder. Motivating students on face to face will have a lot of impact than the one done through online mode.

As we said, the list goes on. For slow learners online education will be the best choice and for slow graspers, traditional one. Overall, It depends upon what a student wishes for. Not everyone’s learning ability is the same. And so not everyone’s interests. Online helps you in giving the quality education for free. But the traditional school helps you in nurturing the skills one needs out of academics, strongly.

Overall, one faces the light only after they face the dark. Else, no one knows the difference between the two. It is the person himself, who can change his life by the path he chooses. Whatever the path it may be, the more his hard work speaks, the more his success beams.
