If I were the Chief Minister of my state :
I have begun to dislike reading newspaper. This is because newspaper today are full of incidents of corruption and injustice and violence, especially my state. I feel really upset and angry at this sorry state of affairs. I then begin to wonder what I would do if I were the Chief Minister of my state.
My first task would be to improve the condition of the poor ones. There are still a large number of people in my state who do not get even two square meals a day. Of late quite, a few farmers have commited suicides, because they were unable to cope with extreme poverty. I would decide ways and means to provide employment to the poor so that they could earn enough at least to satisfy their basic needs.
I would crack down on corruption in a big way by setting up anti - corruption cells directly answerable to me. I would mete out strict punishments to corrupted officials.
An important aspect of my style of functioning would be my sincere attempts to be in close touch with the people of my state. I would, therefore, have an hour set aside daily for meeting common people and listening to their complaints and grievances. I would give instructions to the officers to take proper steps to redress people's grievances immediately.
I would devise ways and means to eliminate unnecessary delays in the working of government departments. All heads of the departments would be accountable to me for the efficient functioning. I would ensure that the fund meant for poor actually reach them, and that it doesn't get diverted for other purposes.
As true representatives of people who gave put their faith in us, I would, along with my team of ministers, set standards of simple living - honest living and high thinking.
