Answer:

Introduction:-

India is enjoying its freedom since the past sixty seven years. The free India had lot many benefits and fresh aroma to breathe in. though we have lost plenty of wealth along with our freedom, still we have enough to accommodate our citizens with all the basic requirements of life. Freedom is much more than any treasure for us. But, this hard-earned freedom doesn’t matter all that delicious to the present generation, as they never had the taste of slavery.

Sweet tastes sweeter when we know the taste of bitterness; otherwise the sweetness doesn’t have any charm on its own. Everything in this world is comparative, so is the freedom for us. We are much happier in comparison to the ages of slavery; still humans don’t have the satisfaction. We still linger on to have a better living standard. It is good to progress towards the betterment, but that needs to be on the path of honesty. Losing the good old freedom in lure of better living standard is definitely a mere foolishness.

Defining Freedom:-

Freedom refers to the liberty and rights. It is the ‘free will’ that one can excise. But apart from this, the freedom in true sense can be defined as giving oneself their own laws. It simply means freedom do have some limitations and restriction which we need to set for ourselves. Anything beyond restriction is hazardous. As a river floods and devastates when it breaks the banks, similarly our excising our free will without any boundaries would shatter every relation.

Free India – A Responsibility for the citizens:-

When it comes to our free India, everyone is happy about exercising their rights and fighting for the same, but nobody is conscious ever to retain the freedom. We have all forgotten our duties and responsibilities regarding the safeguarding and channelizing the freedom so as to prevent us from getting back to the period of slavery.

Misinterpretation of Freedom:-

Since many of us don’t understand the meaning of freedom, we tend to mis-interpret the term freedom with other social issues. This is the reason we always keep fighting within ourselves for the freedom which we already have. Few mis-conceptions of freedom are as follows:

• People consider freedom to be in all aspects of life without any discipline

People forget to draw the self-boundaries for the freedom that they enjoy throughout. It might be any sphere of life viz. work, culture, tradition, language, nationality, etc., everything other thing provides its complete charm only if we learn to keep within our limits. People feel the pub and bar culture to be nostalgic and that denotes their status in the society. The lifestyle modulation that we perceive throughout is very much evident of how differently we have interpret freedom, which is miles away from the original concept of being free.

• Equality

Again, equality is considered to be freedom. Equality is a virtue of freedom and not the freedom itself. Equality is a right that we can enjoy under the supervision of freedom.

Women Empowerment

This is one of the major agitation that is fought in lieu of freedom. Whenever the debate comes on women equality or their empowerment, all the ages old scenario comes into highlight to emphasize the stress on women in the Indian society. There is nothing wrong in demanding right, but the same should not be termed as a lack of freedom for women. Women in free India have emerged as very strong links who are acting as bridge to march towards the progress of the nation.

• Fundamental Rights not understood in entirety

Fundamental rights are the guidelines and the supporting pillars for the citizens of our country on which we can rely at times of need. But the freedom that the fundamental right provides comes along with the package of limitations. We need to excise our rights in a way that should not harm others. We often forget this clause and the selfish generation forgets all the human values and exploits others to fulfil and cherish their own dreams. The child labour, slave trade and human trafficking are the well-established proof of exploitation of the Fundamental Rights.

Misuse of Freedom:-

The term "Freedom" is not only mis-interpret but also misused. We are blindly marching on the path of selfishness misusing our hard-earned freedom.

• An invite for Globalization and Westernization

• Overpowering others / Political play

• Increasing crime rate and decreasing security

Conclusion:-

To conclude, we can say that we have made freedom a slave to our selfish motives and rage. This scenario requires an urgent transformation, so that we can keep smelling the fragrance of the freedom into our atmosphere. The more we tend to flow away with the globalization, the more we will be inviting the foreign countries to empower us. We will slowly end up losing our own economy. It is high time, please gear up and fasten your belts to pace up the race and get hold of our lost channel of free India
