The spot that belongs to you. The spot where all of your emotions comes out, where you can sit down in silence and make a decision for life.That one spot, where if anyone else is sitting then it makes you uncomfortable. I got this idea when I was checking my niece’s notebook. there were a few topics to write an essay on and this was one of them.
No, I am not talking about the Toilet or Bed! The place that is yours….
We all need a place where one can be truly oneself, without bothering to keep up appearances.
For me, this space is a corner of a kitchen platform where I sit and watch Maa making food. As soon as I enter my house I take out a bottle from the fridge – Jump and slide myself to settle at that corner and even if it is visible, I still ask ‘Kya bana rahe ho ! Just to give a base to our conversation.
My mother is well aware of it so she makes sure that the spot is clean and there is nothing kept there so that I can rest with ease. That’s where I have to take my dinner, Maa serves hot chapatis and we discuss whatever happened in the entire day with us or any work that we have to be doing related to home and family.
And there is one more where I sit when I am feeling sad or disappointed with something. The left corner of my bed from where I can see AB road in front of C21 mall. It is simply a cosy niche outside my bedroom window, looking out into the lights below and beyond that onto the bustling street.
I like sitting in the dark to which my father often complains “Kya Pura time koap Bhawan me bethe rehte ho”.
My cosy spot is a “koap Bhawan” for my father.
For my sister, the cosy spot is the 2nd balcony that we have at the backside of our flat. I remember when she was in school she made that- balcony like it is her room. She even asked daddy to give an order for a mattresses that will fit in that balcony so that she can start sleeping there only. Until now, that’s the only spot when you can look for her if she is not visible at home.
You can feel this space is like a secret space. At a glance, you can’t really see how much space is there, but it’s enough space to sit and relax.
