Concept:

An essay is a piece of writing that expresses the author's personal point of view; yet, the definition is ambiguous, overlapping with those of a letter, a paper, an article, a pamphlet, and a short fiction. Formal essays are distinguished by "serious purpose, dignity, logical organization, and length," whereas informal essays are distinguished by "the personal element (self-revelation, individual tastes and perspectives, confidential manner), humour, graceful style, rambling structure, oddness or novelty of theme," and so on.

Answer:

Sri Sri Madhabdeva, an author and saint-poet, was born in 1489 at Letekupukhuri in Assam's Lakhimpur District. He was the author of 'Naam Ghokha' (Naam Ghoxa) and the creator of the 'Borgeet' music genre. He was also a preceptor of 'Mahapurukhiya Dharma' and a devout follower of Assam's social-religious reformer Mahapurukh Srimanta Sankardeva. Govindagiri Bhuyan and Manorama had a son named Madhabdev. He began his studies in Narayanpur and afterwards studied under Rajendra Adhyapak, a well-known teacher. Madhabdev demonstrated good progress in learning the 'Tantras,' 'Purana,' and other Saktism-related works. His father died while he was with Rajendra Adhyapak. Madhabdev embraced the cause of 'Eksarana Dharma' at the age of 32, and began following Srimanta Sankardeva's path and teachings. Despite the fact that Madhabdev was a pupil of Sankardeva, he regarded Madhabdev as the 'Prana Bandhaba' till his death (friend of the soul). Madhabdev decided not to marry in order to devote himself entirely to the cause of 'Ekasarana Dharma.' Madhabdev was a firm believer in offering animals to Godess and was a devout sakta in his studies and practise. He never went back to his prior technique of serving God, gods, and goddesses after he started following Srimanta Sankardeva and his teachings. Sankaradeva preached devotion to a single God (eka sarana), who can be worshipped only by speaking 'His' many names (naam). Madhabdev was afterwards appointed as Sankardeva's successor. Nam ghoxa (the book of the Lord's Name), Bhakti Ratnavali, 191 Borgeets (classical-based devotional songs), 9 Jhumuras (one-act plays), Janma Rahasya (a book on the formation and ruination of the world), Naam Maalikaa, Adi Kanda of Valmiki's Ramayana (the Assamese rendering), Guru Bhattima are some of Madhabdev' After losing the two chapters written by Sankardeva, Madhabdev penned a third chapter of the 'Kirtan-Ghosha' named 'Dhyana Varnana.' Madhabdev died in 1596 at Bhela Satra, Koch Bihar. At the moment, he was 107 years old.
