Visit to the market during Covid-19 lockdown

It was previous year (2020), when the Indian government had declared a nationwide lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic. At that time period, going outside was completely prohibited for me and even the elder ones are going out for extreme necessities only. In our family, the purchasing of essential commodities was mainly done by my father during that lockdown situation.

But, during the second month of lockdown, an unfortunate event occurred in our family, which concluded into my market visit in the lockdown period. Actually my mother became ill during the second month of lockdown and doctor suggested her to take complete bedrest for atleast one week. Me and my father decided to divide chores between two of us, for that one week. I took the responsibility of purchasing essential commodities from the market.

So, I went to the market, even in the lockdown situation. The experience was completely different than any market visit during normal times. There was constantly happening sanitizing works everywhere, social distancing and masks were mandatory everywhere. At the entrance of the market, every market visitor was provided with hand sanitizer, by the market authority. Inside the market, the policemen were constantly patroling to ensure the proper social distance. Although, these were necessary for our own safety, but many people were frustrated with this new normal.

For me this market visit was the first and last scope of going outside in the lockdown period. Surely this will stay as a memorable experience in my mind, for a long time.
