The people of the present era know about the laws made against caste discrimination and still discriminate others. The laws have not been made strong enough to make the people not discriminate others.Society still believes in the rule of untouchability. But the government has taken measures to bring up the lower sections of the society and give them a good name and future. This has brought a drastic change in the society since past 70 to 100 years.Today most of the lower class also have a good name in the society which they had'nt expect of.

Discrimination is a form of discrimination prohibited by international human rights law. Although it may not be equated with racism, it is quite clear from several references made by several UN treaty and charter-bodies that this issue warrants due recognition as an example of gross human rights violation that needs to be taken into consideration by all human rights mechanisms available in the UN system.

Caste system has given rise to inequalities and discrimination in our society people are engaged in different types of works to earn their livelihood activities like cleaning washrooms cutting hair picking garbage are seen as tasks of people of less caste it is very wrong we the people should kill all these social evils.

Answer:

The caste system in India has been practiced since ancient times and its concept has been developed in different ways over the centuries by the people in power. Major changes were made in this system, especially during the Mughal rule and the British Raj. Despite this, even today people are treated differently in society on the basis of their castes. Varna and caste are basically two different concepts of social system.

The varna refers to four broad social divisions – Brahmins (teachers / priests), Kshatriyas (kings / warriors), Vaishyas (merchant classes) and Shudras (laborers / servants) but gradually it went into a state of further decline. Divided into castes on the basis of birth. Caste was generally determined according to the trade or community of the people, but today it has become hereditary.
