Clean India is a campaign started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 2nd Oct, 2014. The main aim of the campaign is to provide every citizen of India an access to
1. Sanitation facilities, and
2. Fresh clean and hygienic drinking water, close to or at their residences.
This campaign is called "Swach Bharat Abhiyan".
Some lakhs of toilets were supposed to have been constructed in three years. They are mainly constructed in rural areas and government schools. People are given funds to assist them to build toilets in their houses. The main problem in many rural areas is that there is not enough water supply in many dry areas in many districts.
Municipality has to clear the garbage regularly from various garbage boxes in the residential areas. Government has spent a lot of funds on this campaign. We should not litter on streets and public places. We should separate wet waste and dry waste, and drop them in the appropriate garbage boxes.
We should follow principles of hygiene and sanitation so that India can rise its head among the advanced world community.
