Essay writing on Corona Virus.

Explanation:

The global pandemic of the Covid-19 or Corona Virus has become a living nightmare for the whole world. No one expected the new year would bring such misfortune to not only a single nation but the world as a whole. But as the world is still learning to grapple with the deaths and ever-increasing infection cases, there is little to do but wait and watch how it plays out.

The first case of such infection was discovered in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. But as the Chinese government was reluctant to accept it as dangerous, there was no 'official' announcement of the hazardous situation. But as the new year began, and many nations, especially the European countries and Australia, saw a substantial sudden spike in similar cases, the infections started to grow. In a short span of just a couple of months, many nations began reporting infection cases in their countries, leading to the WHO declaring it a pandemic. The whole world was put on lockdown, with little to no states allowing open and healthy life to resume.

This virus is a new form of the Sars virus but with a different strand of the genome sequence, which led many scientists and experts to try to understand and discover the virus and its properties frantically. The symptoms of this virus include fever, headache, difficulty in breathing, and mostly affects the older age groups. As of now, there has been no valid medicine or antivirus to fight or destroy or completely heal an infected person.

But as it is not much, we can do without the presence of medicine, and preventive measures are the only possible means by which we can all stay safe from this virus. It has also been accepted worldwide that staying indoors, cleanliness, and not going out unnecessarily are the only measures we can do to keep ourselves safe.

It is now left for us to wait and see how this virus plays out and how drastic consequences this pandemic will bring to the world. Till then, we must all stay safe and try our best to help prevent the spread of the virus.

The coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic is the defining global health crisis of our time and the greatest challenge we have faced since World War Two. Since its emergence in Asia late last year, the virus has spread to every continent except Antarctica.

We have now reached the tragic milestone of one million deaths, and the human family is suffering under an almost intolerable burden of loss.

“The climbing death toll is staggering, and we must work together to slow the spread of this virus.” - UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner.

But the pandemic is much more than a health crisis, it's also an unprecedent socio-economic crisis. Stressing every one of the countries it touches, it has the potential to create devastating social, economic and political effects that will leave deep and longstanding scars. UNDP is the technical lead in the UN’s socio-economic recovery, alongside the health response, led by WHO, and the Global Humanitarian Response Plan, and working under the leadership of the UN Resident Coordinators.Every day, people are losing jobs and income, with no way of knowing when normality will return. Small island nations, heavily dependent on tourism, have empty hotels and deserted beaches. The International Labour Organization estimates that 400 million jobs could be lost.

The World Bank projects a US$110 billion decline in remittances this year, which could mean 800 million people will not be able to meet their basic needs.
