India has great diversity. It can be called the country of festivals too. There are so many festivals celebrated in India.
One of them is Deepawali or Diwali. It is the "festival of lights".
People decorate their home with various lights, candles and diyas.
Diwali is celebrated to honor Goddess Lakshmi. Another reason was that Ram , Lakshman and Seeta returned to Ayodhyaya after spending 14 yrs in exile.
It is celebrated for 5 days. Those are Dhanteras, Choti diwali or roop chaudas, Diwali (badi), govardhan pooja and bhai dooj.
the prepartaions start from a month ago.
Children burst crackers.
People exchange greeting and sweets and gifts.
Diwali is an occasion of amazement, excitement, love and joy. This is a great festival , my favorite , and i hope this festival could be extended for a few more days!
(HAPPY DIWALI TO ALL IN ADVANCE.)

diwali or deepavali is one of the most important hindu festivals that normally fallys around octobr-november months.there is great celebration all over india when people dress in new clothes, eat many sweet preparations and good food,as well as light crackers and other fireworks.houses are decorated with twinkling lamps as night falls,so that it looks as if a million stars are shinning everywhere.it is said that diwali is celebrated because lord rama returned to ayodhya after 14 years of banishment to the forest,to be crowned the king, like everybody wanted him to be.people rejoiced and showed their happiness by festivites on diwali day,the merchant class in particular also worships godess lakshmi, who blesses people with wealth,so that they prosper more in the year to come.the lamps on the doorsteps of houses are meant to direct the goddess the way into their houses,to reside there.people gamble on diwali day,so that they win money and it brings them luck in the months to come.
