Following is an example of an essay on Dogma is the sacrifice of wisdom to consistency :-

Socrates can be remmembered as one of the biggest names in the philosophical worlds. Many people are unware of his struggles in life into bringing about changes in the mindset of people.

Socrates as a person was very inquisitive in nature and therefore wanted to know the reason behind all things that would happen. The elites of that time were divided into a class system and those in power did not like this questioning nature of Socrates. He believed that he was intelligent because he "was conscious about the fact that he did not know anything" while others enjoyed living in denial about the fact that they know things.

He was accused and charged for corrupting the minds of the youth of Athens, this led to him being poisioned as a result.

This story clearly indicates that dogma is indeed the sacrifice of wisdom to consistency.

Dogma generally refers to a belief or principles dominated by a group who say that it cannot be denied. They expect others to follow it and not question.

Wisdom on the otherhand refers to the ability to use ones experiences and existing knowledge to make decisions in life and narrow down judgements.

People say that wisdom is the dominating thing in every society because it will question every dogma.

The reason behind the existence of dogmas is that they are created by elitists to help maintain the status quo. Example, the dogma that women are inferior than men.

These dogmas  of limiting women to education and being bound at home until their marital age has led to much chaos in the global world. For example take a look at the case of Malala Yusuf Zai, who got shot because she seeked the equal right to be educated.

Or look at the various tribal killings who kill off their daughters for trying to find a life partner on their own.

It is necessary for others to intervene with wisdom when dogma prevails, like giving polio drops to children in rural areas. Making programs which spread awareness is necessary.

It is the duty or rationals to step in and take care of what needs to be dealt with. Indeed, it is wisdom either wisdom of ages or collective wisdom of rational people that will help make a society devoid of dogmas.

Answer:

Explanation:

  • Pursuit for knowledge can be tricky.
  • On one side when a truth is discovered- concerning matters of history, science or theology, we need to maintain a conviction about that matter, which is holding belief with firmness.
  • This is because knowledge is precious and valuable.
  • But, when dogma or what biblical proverb call wisdom comes into play, one must be prepared to unlearn all that we know so as to attain consistency.
