Dr.B.R.Ambedkar was a great supporter for women empowerment. He strongly believed in the capabilities of women, he also emphasized that a nation’s progress could not be successful without improving the condition of women in society. Empowerment of women and improving their political, social and economic status is highly important for sustaining development. He also believed Buddhism is the only means to eliminate inequalities in society and women to attain dignified status in society.
As a chairman of Drafting Committee, he provided strong constitutional protection to women by incorporating several women’s right in the constitution of India. He considered women’s right in all aspects of Indian constitution. He supported Maternity Benefit Bill which focuses on women’s health, because women require certain amount of rest during pregnancy period. The Special Marriage Act impose basic conditions for a legitimate marriage, which are appropriate age for marriage, bride and groom should not be close relations and sound mind. He suggested few improvements on Hindu Code bill which favors untouchable and women. He also insisted to pass the bill in Indian parliament, but most of the parliament people were against the ideology proposed in the bill, so the bill was rejected and eventually he resigned.
Dr.Ambedkar struggled to create awareness among women and encouraged them to raise voice against inequalities and several social practices such as child marriage and devadasi system. His focus was to include adequate women in Satyagraha. In the Mahad Satyagraha in 1927, he decided to initiate protest against Manusmriti by burning it, because Manusmriti humiliated women and also shudras. In Mahad satyagraha march around 50 women had participated. For the welfare of lower class women he launched women’s association and spread awareness of women education. Later in the meeting he delivered his speech which created awareness among women to transform their saree wearing style, to put on lightweight ornaments and not to eat meat of dead animals.

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar a great and a inspiring leader of all time had a positive view on the women empowerment. We know that the women empowerment is really a good thing for all our Indian society and even economy. We also know that women in our society mostly are discriminated because of their various reason but yet now because of the modernization and growing mind set of the people now a days women are even allowed to participate in the some aspects of the society. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar always tried and even supported the women power because even the women are the part of this modern society and all. The women empowerment is really needed for this modern society because of many reasons like the women can help out in increasing the economic status and even social status of the country. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar always tried to ensure and even women were given the equal rights as the men had. The women empowerment was always important for our society. This idea of the women empowerment was real needed but their were only some person's who always tried to encourage this idea of women empowerment even Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was among them, where the women are always given the same priority as the men were given. The rights and regulation for both men and women should be equal and on this bases there were many who did not agree it but at all all came to a point where it was decided that everyone would get same amount of rights and equality. therefore Dr. B. R. Ambedkar always had a good opinion on the women empowerment.
