There basically no cons to the Energy Star (r) houses, except for a slightly higher building costs associated with the new insulation. Speaking about the ways New York should promote energy conservation, one needs to keep in mind that building all new houses in accordance to the Energy Star (r) standards is already a good start for the state that currently faces numerous pollution issues.
