Being a plain, the water will just fill up the low lands, displacing people and destroying crops during the rainy season. To control the flooding, the authorities can build dykes on either sides of the channel to restrict the overflow of water. Without such measures, the flooding will continue to wreak havoc and destruction. The recurrent destruction can be stopped only if measures are taken to save people and property.
