men do desire power.but men who do not wish to occupy a position are rare.that was mahatma gandhi,the father of nation.he ruled literally the people of india for nearly 30 years without claiming power.he inspired the people,guidedthem and atlastled them to achieve independence to
the country.
gandhiji was born on 2nd october,1869in a well to do family iin porbunder.he inherited the political insight from his father and religious temperament from his mother.these to qualities shaped him.his early life no remarkable features.he became a barrister in londonand put up his practice as a junior lawyer in india.
during his stay in south africa,he saw the sad state of the indians there.it was a life of racial discrimination.the black people could not get any recognition.a white barber refused to cut his hair.though he had a 1st class railway ticket,he was simply thrown out.such experiences made him invent powerful weapons like satyagraha,non-violent,non-cooperation.
success and failure are only relative terms like good and bad.chirst,the buddha and gandhijidid not succeed in their lifetime.they just lit the torch and it is upto others to carry it on
