वृक्ष प्रकृति का अनुपम उपहार है जो हमारे लिए जीवनदायिनी शक्ति सदृश है| ये तथ्य सभी को विदित है कि ये कार्बन डाई आक्साइड को ऑक्सीजन में बदलते है| इसके वरदान अनगिनत है| ये भूमि के कटाव को रोकते है जिससे पर्यावरण संतुलन बना रहता है| वृक्षों की अधिकता से वर्षा अच्छी होती है| प्रदूषण नियंत्रण में रहता है| ये दिनों-दिन बढ़ रहे वैश्विक तापक्रम वृद्धि को नियंत्रित रखते है| ये मानव के साथ-साथ पशु-पक्षी व अन्य जीवो को भी जीवन प्रदान करते है| ये फल-फूल देकर हमें समृद्ध बनाते है| आजकल वृक्षों की अंधाधुंध कटाई हो रही है जो समस्त मानवता के जीवन के लिए चुनोती है| मानव को घर और फर्नीचर बनाने के लिए वृक्षों की आवश्यकता होती है पर वे भूल रहे है कि वृक्ष काट कर वे अपना ही अहित कर रहे है| अब हम सबको सजग होकर वृक्ष लगाने के लिए कृत संकल्प होना होगा| नियमित उसकी देखभाल करनी होगी| लोगो में जागृति लानी होगी तभी हम विनाश से बचे रह सकते है|

The importance of planting trees has been emphasized time and again. This is because of the numerous benefits they offer. One of the main benefits of planting trees is that they provide us with the life giving oxygen. Without the presence of oxygen the survival of living beings is not possible. Planting trees is also essential because they have the power to absorb the harmful gases. The growing pollution caused due to carbon mono-oxide, sulphur dioxide and other harmful gases and smoke emitted by vehicles and industries is controlled and purified to a large extent because of the presence of trees.

Trees also provide shelter to birds and animals. On a hot summer day, they even provide respite from the scorching sun to the travellers. Trees make our planet worth living. But even though trees offer numerous benefits and we cannot imagine our lives without them, we are cutting them at a rapid pace to fulfil various needs.

Wood is used for making various products of necessity as well as luxury. This is the reason why several trees are being cut each day. The growing population is another reason why numerous trees are being cut speedily. Forests are being turned into industrial areas and residential places.

It is the time government must put a restriction on the cutting of trees and encourage people to plant more of them.
