What would someone do with their life if they didn’t have a hobby? Having a hobby is one way to keep sane. One of my favorite hobbies is hanging out with friends. I think a lot of people like spending time with their friends because there is always something to do. All my friends share the same hobbies I do. Either if it’s basketball or football my friendships are strong because we all agree on what to do. One way to make and keep friends is to have the same hobbies as they do.
Hobbies help people get through the day. If you don’t have a hobby it is very hard to get through the day because you are basically waiting for something to happen instead of making something happen. A hobby like playing sports is a good way to make new friends. Sports involve a lot of social contact.
Often time you can meet new people that you may become good friends with. During practices and games you spend a lot of time with your teammates. Some teammates may not be your friend but through the time of playing together you may find that another person has a lot in common with you. Therefore you can become friends with that person.
Being on the computer or on a video game is another hobby that you may find new people that you can chat with or play a game with. You can find out a lot about them and then you can end up having a pen pal. Having a pen pal is a good way to have a long distance friendship. You can find out where they live, what their hobbies are and many other things.
If you have a friend that skis in the winter and you don’t, you could go without seeing that certain friend for a long time. This is one example of how having a different hobby can make a friendship weak. Often times friends that you keep forever are friends that you have fun with forever. If you have the same hobbies then you will always have a strong friendship.
