Answer:

Matter- Matter is anything which occupies space and has mass is called matter. Air and water, sugar and sand, hydrogen and oxygen etc. Matter is made up of very small tiny particles. Particles of matter have space between them they attract each other.

Matter is anything that has mass and volume(occupy space). As such anything that can occupy space and has mass is an example of matter. Basically they are group into three states: solid (book pen etc) , liquid (water petrol etc ) and gas ( oxygen gas , co2 gas.

It is important because we are actually made of matter and so is everything in the universe. Matter is made up of what atoms and molecules are made of, meaning anything made of positively charged protons, neutral neutrons, and negatively charged electrons.

If you see around, you will find that everything surrounding you is matter. Earlier when Matter was classified, then the ancient scientists said that matter was made up of five basic Elements called: Air, Fire, Earth, and Water & Sky. These five components are called as “panchtatva”.
