Essay on how productively I utilized my lockdown period
Answers
The lockdown period gave me ample opportunities to work on many fronts. It has by far been the most productive periods of my life, because I improved my inter-personal skills, picked up new hobbies and became a responsible family member.
To begin with, since there was a lot of time on my hands, I decided to utilise it well by getting in touch with all those people who have made a difference in my life, but whom I have not been able to speak to for a long time. Despite the initial hesitation, each conversation became a source of joy, irrespective of who I was speaking to- a cousin, an elderly relative, next door neighbours, teachers from my junior classes or even our school bus driver. Everyone was happy to hear from me!
Additionally, during those conversations, I got a lot of advice about picking up new hobbies like reading books, using my art skills to draw cartoons and even writing poetry. My mother too encouraged me to try my hand at cooking and baking. Of all these activities, I enjoyed drawing cartoons and baking the most. I garnered a lot of appreciation from everyone because of these two hobbies. They also reduced my aimless TV watching quite a bit.
Further, picking up new culinary skills from my mother made me realise that there was a lot for her to handle and that helping her out would give her some respite. Doing small chores for her gave her more time to spend with me, and made me want to take up even more responsibilities at home.
Overall. though the lockdown period is a 'black' period in the history of mankind, I feel that it has changed me and turned me into a better person, not just in terms of keeping in touch with everyone, self-improvement or assisting mother at home, but in terms of being more sensitive to people around and away from me, in terms of being able to perceive emotions and bonds of love.
