Waste Segregation is mostly the separation of waste into different categories. Mostly, wet waste and dry waste. People use dustbins, but very rarely are the waste segregated. They are commonly dumped in a single bin, which leads to difficulty in sorting the wastes and treating it in future.

A properly segregated waste turns out to be easier in recycling and treatment biologically or chemically. It makes the work of the authorities concerned, less cumbersome, and also cheap. Mixed waste makes it difficult for sorting and increases the chances of hazards for the cleaning authorities. There is a lot of manual labour involved in case of cleaning . Therefore, segregation of waste from the source, saves a lot of money, and makes the task easier. It also helps in recycling of waste and in generation of revenue attatched to it.

A well segregated waste can be achieved by labelling the categories of waste before sorting it, which also makes it accessible for cleaning.

Hope it helps.
