it appears some evil and nefarious power has unleashed some monster of crime
among the mankind. Everywhere people are robbing, cheating, swindling,
molesting, murdering, kidnapping poor innocent children, men, and women. These
frequent incidents crime that one often sees happening either on road, or on
play grounds, or anywhere else, disturb the peace of one's mind.
In 2015 3, 27,394 cases of crime against women were registered. Approximately 7326099
cases of cognizable crimes under Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Special &
Local Laws were registered in 2015. A majority of the crimes consisted of
murders, rapes, kidnapping, robbery, thefts, etc. Teenagers involvement in crimes is increasing
alarmingly.
The experts on adolescence psychology ascribe their violence and aggression to
the influence of so many factors. Internet, TV, video games, and lack of
counselling are the most prominent causes leading to their violence. Internet
has done them more harm than good. Action packed movies showing unrestricted
violence, aggressive video games are easily accessible. So while watching these
movies or playing these movies, their impressionable mind is adversely
influenced. Added to that, lack of proper counselling and stress management
training, the situation has become quite critical.
The police and law enforcement departments should become
more proactive than they have been so far. Strict laws, timely police action,
and speedy dispensation of justice can really prove to be quite helpful in
checking the crime rate.
The parents in collaboration with teachers must tackle the delicate situation
with tact and coax their volatile children into living peacefully. Only the
concerted effort of the elders can save our youngsters going astray.
