India is a great country where people speak different languages but the national language is Hindi. India is full of different castes, creeds, religion, and cultures but they live together. That’s the reasons India is famous for the common saying of “unity in diversity“. India is the seventh-largest country in the whole world.

India has the second-largest population in the world. India is also knowns as Bharat, Hindustan and sometimes Aryavart. It is surrounded by oceans from three sides which are Bay Of Bengal in the east, the Arabian Sea in the west and Indian oceans in the south. Tiger is the national animal of India. Peacock is the national bird of India. Mango is the national fruit of India. “Jana Gana Mana” is the national anthem of India. “Vande Mataram” is the national song of India. Hockey is the national sport of India. People of different religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, Islam, Christianity and Judaism lives together from ancient times. India is also rich in monuments, tombs, churches, historical buildings, temples, museums, scenic beauty, wildlife sanctuaries, places of architecture and many more. The great leaders and freedom fighters are from India.

In Rajasthan, you can see heritage things of all the kings who ruled over there and for that, you can visit Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Chittaurgarh, etc.
Madhya Pradesh
Madhya Pradesh is bigger than a foreign (Italy) country and smaller than Oman. It also has tourists attractions for its places. In Madhya Pradesh, you can see temples, lakes, fort, art and architecture, rivers, jungles, and many things. You can visit in Indore, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Bhopal, Gwalior and many cities. Khajuraho, Sanchi Stupa, Pachmarhi, Kanha national park, Mandu, etc. are the places must visit.

Jammu and Kashmir are known as heaven on earth. We can also call Jammu and Kashmir as Tourists Paradise. There are many places to visit Jammu and Kashmir because they have an undisturbed landscape, motorable road, beauty, lying on the banks of river Jhelum, harmony, romance, sceneries, temples and many more.

There are 29 states mainly on the basis of linguistic lines. There are wide variety of languages and that of culture, festivals, dress and mode of living is even greater.
There lies cultural unity among Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists and other communities in India.
Geography
On the north of India there are Himalayan mountain ranges. It protects India as its guardian. There is Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal and Arabian Ocean in the south, south-east and south-west respectively.
The highest point in India lies in the Kanchenjunga mountains. The longest river is River Ganga.
National
India has a tri-colored national flag. The three colors are saffron, white and green. The Ashok Chakra in the center of the India flag denotes righteousness.
The national anthem and song are “Jana Gana Mana” and “Vande Mataram” respectively. In the National Emblem, there are four lions standing back to back denoting courage and strength.
History
The civilization of Harappa and Indus Valley in India is believed to be more than 4000 years old. The Rig Vedic period started at around 1700 B.C. India was highly civilized and well developed by 500 B.C. India witnessed a golden period under Gupta Empire during 320 A.D and 500 A.D. The Delhi Sultanate ruled from 1206 to 1526. The Mughal period was from 1526 to 1857. Bahadur Shah II was the last Mughal Emperor. The British ruled thereafter. India got its independence on 15th August, 1947.

Several religions originated from India such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism and Jainism. The religion that people practice in India includes Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Islam, Christianity, Jainism, etc.

There is no national language in India. There are many regional languages and several other local dialects. These languages mainly belong to Indo-Aryan and Dravadian family. There are 22 official languages in India.
Festivals
The major Hindu Festivals are Diwali, Durga puja, Dussehra, Raksha Bandhan, Holi etc. The major Muslim festivals are Ramadan, Eid, Muharram, etc. The major Sikh festivals are Holla Mohalla, Vaisakhi, Guru Nanak Gurpurab, etc. The Christians celebrate Christmas, Good Friday, Easter, St. Valentine’s Day, etc.

New Delhi is the Capital city of India. The other metro cities are Silliguri, Mumbai, Chennai. The other major cities are Bangalore, Mysore, Chandigarh, Raipur, etc.
